A.M. Monius

Amateur philosopher pens anonymous manifesto, bribes numerous relevant academics to review it, and tries to keep himself out of the spotlight. Editor at Lingua Franca tracks him down like Columbo. What a cool story!

The manifesto's content sounds like something Greg Egan has imagined:

The meaning of life is, in effect, to come to understand the message of "Coming to Understanding." And yet there are signs of self-perspective as well: "Perhaps in this task mistakes will be made," A.M. Monius muses before exposing the structure of Being, "but at least it is the right task."
