Turn of the Century

Reading 20 pages at a time here & there, I'm now 300 into Turn of the Century -- and I'm ready to highly, highly recommend it as a New Journalism ("Tom Wolfe, in a 1972 essay, emphasized four devices: scene-by-scene construction, presenting each scene through the mind of a particular character, extended dialogue between characters, and inclusion of details (how they dress, how they furnish a home, how they treat superiors and subordinates) symbolic of the characters' status lives.") triumph. The author has seemingly done everything and met everyone; this is his first novel.

Bombardiers and of course A Man In Full are similar, great novels.
