Where You Will Live the Longest
According to a Harvard study, the top seven counties for life expectancy are in Colorado. Is there something magic in the air there? TIME's correspondent from top-ranking Clear Creek County investigates:

It hardly seems coincidental that all seven — Clear Creek, Eagle, Gilpin, Grand, Jackson, Park and Summit — lie either on or near the Continental Divide and are spectacularly beautiful.

Most of the people I know who have chosen to live there tend to be more active.

conversely people in Denver seem to have lots of brain tumors (from a sampling of immediate friends/family)..may be coindicence or water table issues from Rocky Mountain Flats.

Also longevity might be lack of stress, and good social networks un in dem dar hills.

Don't forget the higher cosmic-ray flux from the altitude. 1.6 km of atmosphere is like 1.6 m of water (about 5 feet) which is a pretty effective absorber that those of us living close to sea-level are getting and folks living in Denver are not, although I don't believe there's any statistically significant differnce in cancer rate with altituded (which is what you'd expect given how hard it is for humans to get cancer compared to other mammals--if we hadn't eliminated almost every other form of death we'd never even be aware of it.)

you'd think that pilots and frequent air travelers would have higher incidences of tumors given the amount of time they spend in the air.

So far as I know that hasn't quite been fully substantiated yet.

Ingestion of radiation is prolonged exposure versus high altitude which may be sheilded by housing/clouds/orientation of the earth.

Hey, just got back to my proxy for civilization, where I seem to be condemned to hibernate for the winter, and was wanting to write you and ask for updates. It would be nice if you'd post to LJ.
