Laurel Canyon

Last night, I loved Laurel Canyon even more than expected.

What drew me, is the storyline of a young couple exploring new worlds -- learning new sides of themselves -- and the setting (best of Los Angeles) & style (lush).

The story didn't grab me, but I didn't care: Those setting/style elements are what have me writing about it. The lingering adoring shots on SoCal institutions large & small...

The movie is an incredibly well-conceived & -conveyed appreciation of the best parts of Hollywood worlds.

And!, on the acting/directing approach: The acting turned out to be perhaps *the* most 'realistically casual yet clearly dramatic' (to coin a phrase!) ever seen. The acting perfectly matched the setting -- in my SoCal experience.
